Kundalini
Yoga combines traditional techniques for promoting optimum body health
with conscious breathing to calm the mind. These workshops will incorporate
breath, mudra, movement, and asana to balance the systems of the body. A kriya is a specific sequence of exercises designed to bring about specific metabolic change. Each workshop will incorporate one or more kriyas to assist the body in obtaining and maintaining a healthy balance.*
Deepen your practice with chanting meditation! Mantra and chanting are important aspects of yoga. They encourage a dramatic energetic shift to support
your meditation goals. The use of Mantra stimulates pressure points in
the palette of the mouth to optimize brain functions and balance both hemispheres
as well. Using chants and voicing tones allows the organs to resonate
at frequencies that promote optimal health in the systems of the body.
Thus we bring our bodies literally in-tune! The yoga work-out will
warm-up the body and prepare the mind for chanting meditations. We
will end with a brief rest to absorb the beautiful song of our selves.

*Full cycles of these sequences must be repeated regularly to obtain and maintain maximum results. These workshops will introduce a sequence, and encourage more in depth practice. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step!

Yoga Party!Karissa Andrews, Doula and Childbirth Educator, seeks to empower women to make informed choices in regards to pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. She has completed the DONA (Doulas Of North America) doula training, is currently training in childbirth education through Birth Arts International, and has attended several births as a doula. Karissa believes there is a great deal of preparation that can be done during pregnancy, mentally and physically, that can help you to have a more satisfying birth experience. Her classes will focus on increasing confidence in the birth process through the sharing of information, empowering birth stories, and discussions related to childbirth. Karissa has practiced yoga for many years and is excited to come together with a Kundalini Yoga instructor who is passionate about birth to present a unique approach to childbirth preparation.
Katie Muschlewski practiced Kundalini Yoga throughout both her pregnancies to strengthen her mind and will for birth. She completed her teacher training apprenticeship with Guru Anand Kaur in 2005. Katie Launched Yoga Sprouts! Child & Caregiver Yoga Adventures in 2007 to share yoga with her kids and community. She completed her first Yoga Sprouts! educational manual in 2009 and is working on book two. She continues her education through her personal practice, teaching, and by attending yoga conferences and workshops. Katie is especially grateful to Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa for her prenatal books, videos, and workshops! Katie has taught many pregnant women in her regular courses and can offer modifications to pregnant women who wish to attend regular classes. She is delighted to join with an experienced doula to offer a series specific to empowering women to promote a positive birth experience.
